My Problem With Wood

Yesterday, with the help of my brother from a different mother, Kevin Buhler, I moved everything out of the attic at our old house in Lynden. Yes, the house we lived in 2 years ago before our jaunts to California and Sweden. The people we rented from were nice enough to let us keep an inordinate amount of stuff in the attic. If you've been to that house, you know you have to disjoin your neck in three places to get your body through the pint size door. Up in that attic was everything we used to "need" but have learned to live without for 2 years. Yes, 8 boxes of "china", inventory from my days of selling at the farmers market, a really heavy bandsaw, pots & pans, and an assortment of other things. When I first walked into the attic I was confronted with a serious personal problem: I am a wood hoarder. And I have since taken the first step to recovery: admitting I have a problem, saving wood. After step 1 I didn't know what the next step should be, so we just piled every piece of wood we could fit into the back of Kevin's truck and took it to the dump.
I imagine this experience is a lot like pet owners taking their dog to get "put down." In any case, it wasn't easy.
As we were throwing the wood into his truck, Kevin said, "I think I can now understand why Barb calls wood your "mistress."

So, now we have all of our belongings in one place. That's good.

I'm sure you all are somewhat familiar with the phenomenon that is CraigsList. Well, let me tell you how CraigsList has made my life better. Last night we decided to take pictures of all the stuff we didn't want. Since yesterday evening we have sold my old Nintendo, a couple of bike racks that came with my Montero, and given away 2 enormous wood crates that transported my furniture. It doesn't cost you anything to post items, and people line up to buy it. Not bad. I think I'll stay home from work tomorrow and just sell more of our stuff. I should probably ask my boss first. Just a minute.

Okay, yep, my boss said that should be alright.

Here's Ruthie, yesterday on her 6 month birthday, exhibiting some top quality bed-head.
