Update on life in Fort Bragg

So far our time in Fort Bragg has been full of excitment and activity. A day after we arrived there was a HUGE storm that took out the power for all of Mendocino County. We got power back after about 30 hours but there are parts of the county that are still out! Greg and I had an appointment the morning after the storm, in town. We headed out in the dark and rain. Greg saw a powerpole leaning and was looking up at it right at the same time I saw a tree in front of us. Thankfully we have just put in new brakes because we were able to miss the tree and continued on to the appointment. I have never been in a storm so fierce, the winds got up to 72mph which is about 120km! Here's a picture of the tree that fell.
We have had a very busy first week back in Fort Bragg. First let me say we have found a place to live! It's in town, not far from the school so Greg can ride his bike. It's tiny, about 360 square feet but after 7 months of living with other people it will be great and is a lot bigger than our room in Sweden. Well, a little bigger! We are really excited and will be moving January 15th. It will feel really good to set up house and finally fill my need to nest!

Other exciting news is that we have found a doctor! His name is Dr. Wright, I haven't met him yet but a friend from last year had him deliver her baby and she said he's great! It's such a relief to know that someone other than Greg will be there to catch the baby!

Greg has gone back to school and has been extremly productive this week, his chairs are almost complete and he is already formulating ideas for his next project. It's really nice to be back and see friends from last year and meet all the new students. It seems like a really great group of people.

It feels really nice to be somewhere that we already know and like. I am hoping to start working next week and work as much as I can before Baby K comes. That time is coming very quickly which is really exciting if not terrifying! We are so excited to meet this active little person.

We are doing well and feel like Fort Bragg is home for now.

  1. Well thank goodness for new brakes! And thank goodness someone was paying attention when you were driving! I'm so thankful that so many things have fallen into place so quickly for you. I hope you'll feel at home in your place right away and make a little nest for you and your little one. You Christmas pictures are fabulous. What cute kids you have in your life. I love the finger painting picture. Gibson's eyes look so excited. Love you both and miss you. We talk about you everyday here.
